Who We Are
Djembe Guru is the premier online learning resource for djembe and West African percussion. Drawing from Scott’s own experience in studying and learning West African drumming, it was designed for the needs of the western student learning African rhythms. With Fara’s engaging and fun teaching style, deep knowledge, authentic lineage, this is the ultimate resource for students of all levels who want to learn djembe and dun duns--the right way.

Introducing the DjembeGuru team!

Fara Tolno is one of the most sought after djembe, dunun and dance teachers in the US. One lesson with Fara, and you will understand why. Since leaving Les Merveilles de Guinea, he has poured his heart and soul into becoming a teacher that truly understands how to share his
vast knowledge with western students.

Scott Griffiths began studying djembe in 1999, and met Fara in 2001 at Bantu camp outside Santa Fe, NM. The bond was immediate, and Scott moved to Boulder in 2004 to study with Fara more intensely. in 2007 Scott and Fara collaborated on the Rhythm Reference Project and have been planning and preparing to launch DjembeGuru. com since 2010. It's been a long but rewarding journey.
